Brett Ferres has signed a new deal with the club and is now contracted until the end of the 2012 season. Since joining from Wakefield he has made 18 appearances for the Tigers and has scored 8 tries. The club have issued a statement saying that they are holding an investigation into Saturday's crowd trouble. At least one player, Thomas Bosc, was hit by one of the many bottles thrown from the Wheldon Road end. Beer was also thrown onto the pitch. The RFL have said they are awaiting the reports of their officials. Follow the link below for the club's statement.
After the euphoria of ending the recent losing run came the frustration of Cas' poor home form continuing. It's now five successive home league defeats and we've won just two of our nine league matches at headquarters. In this game it started brightly, Brett Ferres and Richard Owen scoring to build an 8-0 lead. Kirk Dixon goaled the second of these to take the lead to 10-0 and his Castleford points tally to 450. The Dragons were level by the interval though after replies from Dimitri Pelo and Jean-Philippe Baile. I a see-saw start to the second stanza Joe Westerman kicked a brace of penalties, Dixon having suffered a chest injury, before a converted Clint Greenshields try put the visitors into a lead they'd never lose. The lead was extended by Dane Carlaw's converted try. Owen scored his second with four minutes remaining, Westerman goaling to make the score 20-22, but the Dragons held firm to record the win.
Shane Tasker-Howard has moved to Huddersfield until the end of the season. In exchange the Giants' 18-year old reserve half back Ed Barber is joining Cas on an identical basis. Tasker-Howard has not featured in competitive action for the first team this year but made a handful of appearances for the reserves.
Despite having only rejoined the club recently, Anthony England has moved to Gateshead on a loan basis. The official site makes no mention of the duration.
